Bike sessions

example of an NTC group ride

Our cycling sessions consist of group rides in and around the local area. These rides are structured into two groups: a ‘fast’ group (Group A) and a ‘not so fast’ group (Group B) and are led by experienced riders.

These rides are designed to improve bike handling skills as well as building speed and endurance. The rides are a great way of building your fitness and learning to ride in a group. Plus they are ideal for picking up tips and advice about cycling in general.

Group rides

We have a list of different routes each week which helps to keep things interesting. These include a mixture of fast, flat rides and hilly rides which take place in the attractive Staffordshire countryside and include a cafe stop as well.

The winter rides are designed to build ‘base fitness’ and tend to be shorter, taking into account the weather conditions. These are accompanied by our weekly indoor cycling sessions on the Watt bikes which are great for building strength and stamina.

Additional training

Spring and summer rides are aimed at building endurance and include hill work as well. Plus there is the opportunity for further hill work via our weekly ‘hill reps’ session up Black Bank in Newcastle under Lyme.
